Random Thoughts of Jorriss

I love the XBox 360

On Christmas Eve Eve, I headed out to my local Best Buy on a whim to procure an Xbox 360. I arrived a half hour before opening and was tenth in line. I was unsure if they even had any “white boxes” but I waited around anyways. Sure enough the manager wandered to the front of the store and handed those in a line a coupon to pick up one of the twenty Xbox 360s they had received that morning. I also picked up an additional wireless controller, the Play and Charge kit (love it), Call of Duty 2 (Amazing), and Madden 06 (ehh). Actually, Madden feels more like a technical demo than a full out game. Since then I’ve also picked up another two wireless controllers, Kameo (thanks Steve), Perfect Dark Zero(I will get to this once the war has been won in Call of Duty 2) and Dead or Alive 4 (looks fantastic).

I love playing with my 360. But the best thing about the 360 is XBox Live. Through Live you can download movie trailers, game demos and full featured games. One of which is Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved, classic arcade experience with a next-gen look. Another feature that really pushed the 360 to another level is the Gamercard. The Gamercard (located on the left side of my blog) features a tagline, rep (your reputation on XBox Live), your last five games played and your gamerscore. The gamerscore has really got me pumped. It adds another dimension to your games. Each game has a total of 1000 points to give gamers via achievements. Each game has its own achievements. Some can be hard (beat Call of Duty 2 on its hardest level) and some can be easy (score a touchdown in Madden 06). If it wasn’t for the achievements I wouldn’t be playing Call of Duty 2 on its hardest level. I would of beat the game on the default settings and gone on with my life but now there are achievements at stake I continue on so all of my friends can see my greatness. So am I impressed with the 360? Yup. Do you need one? Absolutely.
