From the file of the coolest news story ever comes this the Walt Disney World Haunted Mansion Counterstrike Map. I love, love, love the Haunted Mansion. As a kid I had a Haunted Mansion record and book combo. I would listen to it over and over and be scared out of my mind. But this is just way beyond cool. A frag-a-thon with your buds in the Haunted Mansion complete with doom buggies. Awesome. Speaking of doom buggies check out DoomBuggies.com a fantastic site dedicated to the Haunted Manstion. Even though I thought Napoleon Dynamite was a sub par movie it did have its moments of genius. One of those moments is recreated in the Xbox best game Halo 2. Click and enjoy. Via XBox360Fanboy.
A few weeks ago the rechargeable battery pack on two of my Xbox 360 controllers decided to stop charging. After a few days of trying to recharge them I swapped them out for AA batteries and went on with my life. Yesterday, I was talking to ALow his battery pack was doing the same thing. After a bit of googling I found this knowledge base article which describes some possible solutions for the battery pack problem. The document suggested to “use a cotton swab and some isopropyl alcohol to clean the four gold contacts on the Xbox 360 Rechargeable Battery...
One of the editors from 1up.com was recently on DL.TV and spoke very highly of NCAA Football 2007 for the XBox 360. So I decided to Google a bit and see if I can find a preview of the game. Of course Google knows all and IGN has an excellent write up on the new version of my favorite football game. According to the article, EA sent a team of people to photograph and measure seventy different stadiums. They also used satellites to capture the sun position to add photorealistic detail to the game. EA has also done away...
Since there isn’t a lack of 2005 top ten lists I give to you maybe the most unique set of individuals of any list, the top ten most interesting people in gaming in 2005. The list spans from the PSP Licker to Leeeeeeeeeeeroy Jenkins. Good list. Enjoy. Via Joystiq.
On Christmas Eve Eve, I headed out to my local Best Buy on a whim to procure an Xbox 360. I arrived a half hour before opening and was tenth in line. I was unsure if they even had any “white boxes” but I waited around anyways. Sure enough the manager wandered to the front of the store and handed those in a line a coupon to pick up one of the twenty Xbox 360s they had received that morning. I also picked up an additional wireless controller, the Play and Charge kit (love it), Call of Duty 2...
If you are having some problems connecting to certain people over Xbox Live on your 360 the boys at XBox 360 Fanboy have some tips. “Go to the System blade, select Network Settings and then Test Xbox Live Connection. You'll be able to see what sort of NAT your system is behind, and if it's set to Moderate or Strict then you will only be able to connect to certain other users. To fix this, set your NAT to Open by opening the following ports on your router: 88 (UDP), 3074 (UDP), and 3074 (TCP).”Now Playing: Major Nelson...

The one where Rory buys Star Wars Galaxies and makes some friends, fast. I think this is his best post of the year.
IGN has released its top 100 games of all time. While I can’t really argue with the top ten (Super Mario Bros. is numero uno), the rest of the list is crazy. They omitted games like The Legend of Zelda, KOTR and Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight in favor of Tetris Attack, Battletoads and Freedom Force. Via Joystiq.
The new PSP v2.0 firmware is now available for download. This is what we’ve been waiting for people. This is the update that installs a web browser on your PSP. From the sounds of it the browser might actually be pretty capable with sizing features and *gasp* tabs. Grab this one folks. Via Scoble. Update Instructions: - Connect your PSP to your PC via USB cable. - Goto the directory /PSP/GAME/ in your memory stick. - Create a sub-directory named "UPDATE" (MUST be uppercase) - Copy the downloaded PBP file into this directory. - Rename it to "EBOOT.PBP" (MUST...
Sony announced that the new PSP v2.0 firmware will have a web browser. My response? ABOUT FREAKING TIME! A web browser should have been included at launch. I was so disappointed when I read the reviews that it did not have one. With this upgrade the world’s best bathroom buddy just got better.
In related news, Ken Kutaragi has gone mad! Seriously, he has. The head of the PlayStation division is now using other people’s feet to put into his mouth since he’s has both of his mouth-bound for some time. He’s now said that the PS3 is going to be...
I’ve been playing NCAA 06 and have been wondering who where the bands that were featured in the game. Well, here they are: De La Soul - "Me Myself and I" The Clash - "Train in Vain" The Pietasters - "Out All Night" Jawbreaker - "Bad Scene, Everyone's Fault" Superchunk - "Hyper Enough" NOFX - "Jeff wears Berkinsocks" Ned's Atomic Dustbin - "Kill Your Television" Lush - "Lady Killers" Bad Religion - "Atomic Garden" Guided By Voices - Teenage FBI Pixies - "DebaserNow Playing: Out Of The Grey - The Deep
Major Nelson has posted a comparison of the PS3 development kit and the Altair. I just about fell outta my chair when I saw this.
Here’s a rundown of what I’m playing:
XboxNow Playing:Lego Star Wars – This is a really cool game. You play the first three Star Wars episodes as Lego characters in a Lego Star Wars universe. Lucy and I are playing this one together (she won’t let me play it without her) and we’re having loads of fun.
On Deck:X-Men Legends – I stopped playing this one to start Halo 2. As an X-Men fanboy it’s great to play comic versions of my favorite superhero team. It has gotten a bit repetitive but I haven’t given up on the title yet.Burnout 3 –...
I am a Defender-ship.I am fiercely protective of my friends and loved ones, and unforgiving of any who would hurt them. Speed and foresight are my strengths, at the cost of a little clumsiness. I'm most comfortable with a few friends, but sometimes particularly enjoy spending time in larger groups. What Video Game Character Are You?
This is so true it's scary.
I gotta post this one. This video, cleverly disgisued as as 1950’s public service announcement, shows the uninitiated how to play Halo 2 on XBox Live. If you have never played on Xbox Live this will make no sense whatsoever but if you have be prepared to urinate in your pants. Via Joystiq.
My boy J writes on his E3 experience. I’m sensing some crazy jealousy on my part. He talks about how he was impressed with the number of Nintendo DS games that will be made available. That’s surprising. I, like J, thought that the DS was going to crash and burn. I’m not conceding that I was wrong but let’s not forget that the DS doesn’t have a system selling title…yet. I need E3 pics J, pics!
